Vitamin D
CRC Press. 2012Vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency is a worldwide, public health problem in both developed and developing countries. Rickets among infants has reemerged. Low levels of vitamin D are associated with increased risk and mortality from cancer. At the same time, the beneficial effects of vitamin D on a host of conditions have recently been discovered. Vitamin D, An Issue of Rheumatic Disease Clinics
Elsevier Health Sciences. 2012This issue features internationally renowned experts who have provided their expertise on a variety of topics related to the importance of vitamin D. It was not until feed back loops were identified between Vitamin D production and parathyroid hormone, phosphate that it earned its place as a true endocrine hormone. Current social and economic conditions have brought it back into the limelight with outbreaks of rickets and osteomalacia even in developed countries. However its complex...
I recommend these drops to every I meet. I’ve been taking them for nearly 5 years now. I have chronic issues with low Vitamin D. When my doctor discovered this in my lab work, he immediately prescribed me a prescription extended release Vitamin D. Not only did that pill make me feel queasy, it didn’t raise my levels whatsoever. They were still around 13. I was discouraged and then I got to thinking – perhaps the issue was digestion. It made sense to buy a liquid, but I was concerned about the taste being off-putting and resulting in my not using it daily. I was hoping to find something that was more of an oil than a thick liquid, and I lucked out when I stumbled upon NOW Food’s Vitamin D.I take it every night before bed. It has basically no taste to me at all. It will sort of coat the back of you throat though, so you probably want to take a swig of water with it. But – I’m very sensitive when it comes to taste. Some medications and vitamins cause me to gag, but I find that this is perfectly pleasant and easy to take. After just a month of using this, my levels went up to 25. Since then they have slowly returned to normal. My doctor asked what I was doing differently, and I told him all I was doing was using this product. He even said he may recommend it to patients who aren’t responding to the prescription.I have osteoporosis and on top of that, I’m somewhat heat sensitive so I’m rarely out in the sun. This is the perfect solution for me. I’m just so relieved to have found a product that gives me such good results. I also feel that it’s helped my general aches and pains and I feel noticeably more energetic. My doctor told me that Vitamin D is important when it comes to fighting cancer and inflammation too. I’ll be taking this supplement for life, and I hope they never stop making it.
I read that feeling tired in winter can be due to Vit D deficiency. Due to lack of sunlight, many people lack Vit D in winter, and it can be hard to get enough from your diet alone. I prefer sprays to tablets, as they don’t depend on digestive system for absorption, and I have difficulty swallowing tablets, especially if large. This has quite a strong peppermint taste, but not unpleasant and leaving no aftertaste. This provides a high dose of Vit D – NHS website recommends 10 mcg per day, whereas this provides 75 mcg (3000 IU) in 3 sprays (so 25 mcg or 1000 IU per spray) and recommends 3 sprays per day. Maximum safe dose is 100 mcg per day of Vit D (although it will also depend on your weight). The body can store Vit D, so it’s not necessary to take it every day. I take the recommended 3 sprays every other day. Excess Vit K can also be stored by the body, so this also doesn’t necessarily need to be taken every day. NHS recommends 1 mcg per kg of body weight, so this provides recommended dose for a body weight of 75 kg. Maximum safe dose is thought to be 1000 mcg (1 mg), so this is well within that. According to what I’ve read, D3 and K2 are the more easily absorbed forms, although D3 is usually from animal sources, so not sure this would be suitable for vegans. The MK7 form of K2 is derived from bacteria, though. It also contains Vit E, although does not declare how much. Compared to other liquid Vit D products, so sprays or drops, this is reasonably priced, and seems good quality. I feel less tired, but am also taking some other supplements, so hard to tell if improvement is due to this. Would recommend if looking for high strength Vit D supplement..
I have been searching for a long time for a vitamin D supplement without fillers or any nasty unatural ingredients, and one that also had vitamin k2 and finally here it is! I read alot of Dr.Mercola and so know what to look out for and this product is actually better than Mercolas as his is less than perfect too. I couldnt actually believe it when i found it as it literally ticks all the boxes! Wonderful natural ingredients, no fillers, vitamin k2 which works together with the vitamin D for your bone health, as healthy as you can get pullulan capsule and the wonderful added bonus of it all in a GLASS bottle, no plastic in sight!! A super price for a great product, and sometimes even cheaper with special offers, fast postage too. All in all im delighted and highly recommend this fab product. Thank you to Barefoot Nutrition for this and hope you can produce other supplements in the future! *****
To start, I LOVE this product and will continue to take it- just not this most recent bottle. This is my fourth order of Naturewise D3 vitamins so I’m very familiar with the packaging by this point and I believe I was sent a fake product. The bottle on the right is the old bottle and the left is the new bottle. As you can see, there’s no “Bottled in USA”, “GMP”, 3rd party testing seal, or Transparency seal. As far as I know, Naturewise hasn’t abandoned these company practices and removed these seals. Also, when you look closely (maybe it doesn’t show in the pics) the text on the left bottle is different and the label is a matte finish while the right has a high gloss finish.
Out of all of the vitamin d products I have taken – This is one of my personal favorites. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is not because of a lack of quality – its because the dropper needs to be upgraded by the company to something that doesn’t leak – and the integrity of the packaging needs to be upgraded. Other than that – this vitamin d makes me feel great – and is a much better deal than buying it in capsules. I will also apply it directly to my skin from time to time and find that it absorbs rapidly and makes me feel amazing. Great product with a questionable dropper.
It’s a fact we don’t get enough vitamin D, why most of us have been taught to fear sunshine and the rest of us live in the northern hemisphere less sunshine. Vitamin D is vital to functionality of the body. Reducing cardiovascular disease, bone density issues, increasing your immunity and also vital for fertility. I had low levels of vitamin D – I had headaches which I don’t usually have, I was always getting sick, I had pain in my bones and I was tired all the time. My doctor run a routine test and happened to discover my low levels….they gave me a print out on vitamin D the type of patronising stuff you get from them. Needless to say they don’t recommend a supplement or retest your levels later on. Best thing to do is start this daily spray, eat eggs if you can and also in the summer go out in the sun for 20 minutes no sunscreen! 6 months later and I feel completely different, plus my hair and eyebrows have grown thicker!
I started using this about 3 years ago as my Vitamin D level was low. It was recommended to me by a Chiropractor. It’s a good product. It is chewable and does not taste bad, or it can be swallowed. It was a bit late arriving but that is understandable with the pandemic going on right now. I definately would order from this company again.
Really great value for money with so many tablets in the container. I’ve read that some were unhappy with the large container as it is a waste and unnecessary. I do understand their point, but I think the brand was trying to get all the instructions and information printed onto the sticker label without the healthiest person needing to have reading glasses to decipher what it says. For that reason I don’t mind that the bottle is slightly on the large size.
Update: I’ve been taking this for probably 6 months now. I had my levels rechecked and they are at a 43 which is closer to normal!! I will continue to take these daily.I recently found out my vitamin d level was a 13. 30 is considered low so I was really really low! I was having a lot of bone/chin pain where I broke my leg 8 years ago. It never really would go away. So I went to my ortho and he suggested I take a vitamin d supplement. I needed something really strong so I got the 5,000. These pills are so tiny and super easy to swallow. No aftertaste or any issues. I have noticed a difference already and the pain has lessened. This is a lot of pills and will last a long time.
Great product and good value. Would have been 5* but the Best Before Date is 01/03/2021.That is no good for a years supply. Luckily I am taking 2 a day or these would have been returned!
I am always impressed with the quality and care that Jamieson puts into their supplements. I’ve been buying my supplements (Vitamin D & B12) from them for years and will continue to do so.Easy to swallow tablet, no aftertaste and a decent price the quantity. It’s helped a lot in my overall health taking Vitamin D3 1000 IU’s daily and I feel confident using a brand that I can trust and would highly recommend.
I’ve been taking Vitamin D for years now (with a Tums to aid in absorption). I haven’t had the flu or cold in that time and I work with children for a living. I bought this for my husband and he hasn’t been sick either.
I’ve been using vitamins from Bulk Powders for years and always find their quality and price perfect for my needs.Vitamin D is one of those vitamins we tend to be deficient in as we get older. We also don’t live in a particularly sunny country, so a boost is needed.I also find that D3 seems to help with mood too!The tablets are pretty small, so very easy to swallow.
Not much to say – the pills are tiny, easy to swallow, no aftertaste. Not sure if I feel a difference after taking them but I’d like to think I do! 500 in the container so the value is great. Will definitely order again when the bottle runs out.
lovely quality supplement V D3.. brain food brain power.. can be taken all year round.. now mixed with coconut for good absorption
The price is amazing. I bought from my naturopath and paid twice the amount. Kids say they taste like candy canes (peppermint flavour).
I hear that people take these up to 10,000 drops a day. I do not. I take one drop on my tongue a day and then I take a k2 supplement. That is what you need for the Calcium to be deposited into your bones and not into your veins to calcify. And the drop comes out slow. Not like a fast leaky tap so you don’t have to worry about getting too much at once.Im assuming its working. We live in BC in the Fraser valley and it rains a lot. It rained so much in fact that the lower Fraser Valley flooded and ending up in the news. And because of where my house is situated I watched it all . But I was not too depressed because after all I’m taking my vitamin D.
I have been buying Together health products for 4-5 years since they were literally just starting, I changed to another supplier but noticed despite ingredients being all natural I was not feeling as good as I did with Together health. I have now reverted back to them but continue to buy D3 elsewhere. My only gripe is the low dosage of 1k iu’s of it. I take 5k a day and simply cannot afford to buy this and it last me 6 days. I wish they would do a 2500 iu.That said I buy Tumeric, Zinc, magnesium, b complex, k2 from together and will continue to do so.
2500 IU per pill is 3-4x the recommended dose — after 2 nights of waking up with intense headaches, I looked it up and found the dosage is way too high. Admittedly, should have checked this for myself first too.
This stuff is great, especially as a computer nerd who spends a lot of time inside, on top of living in Canada. Just a good thing to take, but it helps me wake up a bit more refreshed and helps to brighten mood.Taste is okay, it’s mostly tasteless except for a bit of a coconut oil taste. The best part of these drops is that.. I actually remember to take them every day! The bottle is small, and I just leave it on my desk, so I actually see it and use it every day, unlike vitamin D pills.I take usually 3 or 4 drops, and anywhere from 1 to 4 drops should be a good dosage. You can drop them on your tongue directly, into your morning coffee, tea, juice, whatever! It is a bit pricy, but the bottles last a long time and I’m okay with paying a bit more, since it’s lead to me actually taking it.
So first off because vitamin D gets better absorbed with fat and these capsules are based in oil they absorb a lot better. They’re also the only ones that I can find online that are more than 1000 UI. there is so many included in this bottle for such a reasonable price it’s the only ones we’re going to buy going forward. High quality for the win
These caplets as small, easy to swallow and are tasteless. I would buy again
