Stinging nettles are, for many of us, nothing more than persistent weeds with a painful sting. But apart from having an important role in the web of life, nettles are an incredibly useful plant to mankind. They have been put to myriad uses by our ancestors, and many of these are still valid today. Already stinging nettle products are growing in popularity in the field of alternative medicine, as their wide range of health benefits becomes better known. This unique book explores the diverse...

A Natural History of Nettles

A Natural History of Nettles

Trafford Publishing. 2007 gbs preview

The first book ever on the much maligned nettles of the world presents a story of these followers of mankind and his cattle throughout history. This study centres on the most abundant and sub-cosmopolitan common stinging nettle (Urtica dioica), but also deals with other nettles throughout the world. Tropical tormentors rich in species include the notorious nettle trees with their formidable stings which fascinated the Europeans after their discovery by botanists on the round-the-world trips...

  1. Take two of these and a teaspoon of cinnamon daily starting a few weeks before your annual allergies start and continue through allergy season and voila, no allergy symptoms.

  2. Nettle root is reputed to be effecting in preventing the conversion of testosterone to estrogen, an issue that affects men as they age. (You may wish to google “aromatase inhibitor” for more info.)I’ve been supplementing with DHEA (for testosterone) for a number of years, and nettle root seems to compound the benefits of DHEA (particularly energy) and to abate some of the effects associated with testosterone precursors (the most obvious being hair loss). There are other natural aromatase inhibtors that work well too, of course, but I’ve returned to this particular product time and again given its relatively low cost and apparent efficacy. NOW offers a number of good products, and it’s offerings are generally quite competitive in terms of price. This product in particular is an old standby for me.

  3. I waited a full two months to give the tea a full review. When I first started drinking the tea it had a very herbal taste. I suffered from anal fissures for years, I have taken every drug and still no healing. My hair shed like crazy, my skin had breakouts, but after drinking this tea LET ME TELL YOU my life is changed. I no longer suffer from any of these issues.I have stopped taking coffee because I enjoy this tea that much. It is truly a dierectic. It makes you urinate a lot. My mom also loves this tea. My hair has reduced in shedding a lot. I infuse this tea and place it inside my spray bottle with a few drops of peppermint and spray it on my scalp. This tea is the truth!! I use 8 table spoons to make a large batch to last a few days.

I have been taking 2 a day for 2 months now, my hair is getting thicker

  5. I’m so impressed! The bag of tea is the size of a small pillow. Really good bang for your buck. The tea tastes better than other nettle teas I’ve tried. I will definitely buy again if I ever run out. That could take a while because there’s so much. If you’re looking for a bargain this is it.

  6. Worked very well. Tested against Swisse ultiboost prostate, which did not work at all.

  7. When I cracked open this bag, I smelled my childhood. I know it sounds corny but I grew up in the country and we would pick nettles to eat. These smell fresh, grassy, and heavenly. They also make a super tasty cup of tea. I plan on making soup with them too.The price may seem high but 100 g of quality herbal tea is $15-20, so I think this is actually good value especially given freshness and quality. Also this bag is huge! Dried herbs are very light.Highly recommend and will repurchase.

  8. Good stuff

  9. Very nice but lots of dried grass in it.

  10. I actually quite like the taste once I add some honey, very good quality leaves.

  11. En l’espace d’un mois, mes cheveux ont considérablement poussés. Je prenais 2 gélules le matin. Recommande fortement !!

  12. Excellent quality and colour

  13. Natural herb remedies. Product was fine. Thank you.

  14. So I suffer from chronic pain in my gastrointestinal system because it’s super sensitive and susceptible to a lot of sicknesses or bloating which is just super uncomfortable…Literally nothing else – not pepto bismol or gravel or anything like that – helps me, so I decided to take a more naturo pathic approach.I LOVE tea and heard that ginger can help so much with stomach pain so I gave this a try and it’s made such a huge difference. The ginger is so strong my body feels the effects of its anti inflammatory properties immediately and it has a great taste! The package is a lot bigger than I thought it would be and it’s filled to the BRIM with tea bags so it’s definitely worth the money.I add honey to it often because I love honey but you definitely don’t need it to enjoy it!Sorry to make this more of a health review than one about the simple pleasure of enjoying a cup and of tea but I thought someone could benefit from it

  16. Good stuff

  17. This plant is good for almost everything. It is an overall healthy plant for the body. I’m pleased with purchase.
