Official medicine has not yet found a permanent treatment to offer patients; but natural medicine offers several.
The lesions can be reduced by various types of medication, applied topically, orally or by injection. The main aim is to improve the patient’s quality of life by improving the appearance of the skin. In addition, psoriasis sufferers should take care of their skin to avoid irritation and dryness: moisturising milk, superfatted soap, clothes made of natural materials, etc.
Reflexes and lifestyle habits can help people with psoriasis to alleviate symptoms, live better with the disease or even get rid of psoriasis permanently. Whether it’s skin care, diet, stress management or professional care, you have an active role to play in your disease and to find the right psoriasis treatment.
The right diet can sometimes reverse psoriasis without the need for further treatment. The basic guidelines are as follows:
- Cut out milk and dairy products,
- Cut out biscuits, sweets, chocolate and all ready-made meals containing refined sugar,
- Avoid cold meats and fatty meats,
- Cut out alcohol,
- Fasting for 36 hours (from dinner to breakfast) several times a month,
- Anthroposophists recommend a mono-diet (single food) of cooked organic apples (without sugar and butter) for seven days.
Those who wish to abandon the allopathic treatment that has been prescribed to them will not be able to do so without taking a minimum of precautions (if possible under the supervision of their doctor or dermatologist). Local creams based on corticoids or synthetic vitamin D can lead to dependency.
At the beginning of the treatment, there is sometimes an enormous rebound and the skin can itch like a scab after a wound. It is then necessary to persevere and give yourself about two months (for some it can last less). In this case, moisturising creams can be applied because at the beginning of taking marine lecithin, the skin tends to dry out around the psoriasis patches. Then, little by little, everything returns to normal.
The important thing is to give the body time to regenerate the epidermis and this takes about 120 days.
