Dry Mouth Treatment

Dry mouth also called xerostomia, is a daily problem that causes discomfort when you swallow, eat or speak. You do not produce enough saliva to moisten your mouth sufficiently. Dry mouth can be a sign of certain diseases, such as diabetes. Stress and anxiety can contribute to dry mouth, as can any medication you may be taking to alleviate it. This can lead to serious health problems, so it’s very important to take it in serious. But don’t worry, there are many ways to treat dry mouth! Look for more information about dry mouth treatment: Wikipedia.

How do you get rid of dry mouth?

There is no miracle dry mouth treatment, but there are simple things to do:

  • Drink more water: This is the most obvious remedy, but drinking water regularly is the best way to stay hydrated. In fact, studies have shown that mild dehydration can amplify the dry mouth factor. So to avoid dry mouth, remember to stay well hydrated throughout the day. To find out if you’re drinking enough water, I recommend this tip. By simply drinking more water on a daily basis, there is a good chance that this dry mouth phenomenon will disappear.
  • Avoid certain medications: Over 90% of dry mouth cases are caused by medications. Indeed, certain types of medication can cause dry mouth. These include: – antihistamines – antihypertensives – hormonal drugs – bronchodilators If you think your medication is drying your mouth, talk to your doctor. But don’t stop a treatment without medical advice.
  • Avoid drinking coffee: Some habits make dry mouth symptoms worse. This is the case with coffee. Indeed, drinking coffee or caffeinated tea often leads to dry mouth. Why is this? Because caffeinated drinks are often dehydrating. Reducing or stopping your coffee consumption is an effective way to combat dry mouth.
  • Chew gum: To activate saliva production, you can also chew sugar-free gum. This will easily relieve dry mouth for a while. The same applies to sugar-free sweets, which stimulate saliva production.
  • Improve your oral hygiene: Dry mouth can be both a symptom and a cause of poor oral hygiene. The only way to stop it is to improve your oral hygiene! Daily brushing with a good toothbrush and toothpaste is essential to maintain good oral hygiene. You can also add an alcohol-free mouthwash to make sure you have a healthy mouth all day.
  • Use a humidifier: If your mouth is dry, it may be because the air inside your house, flat or even your office is too dry. To find out, get an indoor hygrometer. If the humidity level is below 40%, you can invest in a humidifier that will diffuse humidity in your rooms. This will make the air you breathe less dry and will also reduce the dryness of your mouth. Also consider running the humidifier at night, especially if your mouth is very dry when you sleep.

What is a natural remedy for dry mouth?

The first thing to do, is to know what causes dry mouth. Dry mouth treatment begins with identifying its cause. When dry mouth cannot be avoided as a side effect of illness or medical treatment, it’s important to know how to manage it and how to prevent dry mouth while sleeping.

There are foods that help dry mouth. Some spices can trigger salivation such as cayenne pepper, fennel seeds or cardamom seeds. Ginger or ginseng sprays also help to soothe dry mouth; so you can use a ginger/ginseng-based products for maximum effectiveness and as home remedies for dry mouth at night.

What is a dry mouth a symptom of?

Is your mouth dry and mushy when you wake up in the morning? Do you feel the urge to drink lots of water? Dry mouth can make it difficult to swallow, chew food or speak clearly. With dry mouth, your teeth can decay very quickly, and sometimes there are no warning signs. Untreated dry mouth can also contribute to bad breath, and sometimes other people may notice an unpleasant smell.

  • A dry or mushy mouth feeling as if the mouth is filled with cotton wools.
  • Burning sensation in the mouth or on the tongue and sometimes the tongue feels dry like leather.
  • Difficulty or discomfort when chewing, swallowing or speaking.
  • Dry lips and throat or sores in the mouth.

Once you know your dry mouth symptoms and treatment, the cure is easy!

I reached 40 and many things changed in my body, because of that I needed to take hormonal drugs. Of course this helped me a lot but at the same time it brought other consequences, such as dry mouth. Something so ugly, because I could barely swallow and speak. So I went natural and I started to investigate what could help me. I found it very interesting to learn that I had to give up coffee because caffeine is dehydrating. I didn’t like this either but I did it because I want to get better. In fact I also got Aloe Vera Gel. This is really refreshing and so soothing. I am fascinated with this product. I am double ordering because I don’t want to run out.

+ PROS: I recommend Aloe Vera Gel

I started to feel my throat very dry and then it was full of sores, it was a real pain because I couldn’t even drink anything without it hurting so much. I was told that marshmallow extract is a good anti-inflammatory so I didn’t hesitate and started taking it. On the second day you can already notice the difference. Its medicinal properties are very effective. I love it! I will continue with this one until I get completely better.

I love ginseng because it’s great for increasing energy without the jitters or tolerance. For that, it’s really better than caffeine. And what I appreciate most about it is that it really gives me more energy to combat adrenal fatigue/chronic fatigue. But not only that, it also helped me fight dry mouth (although it wasn’t for that purpose that I started taking ginseng). Very happy with the results.
Did I mention the mood enhancement? Ginseng does that too 🙂

    + PROS: Ginseng is fantastic

I use Marshmallow Extract for dry mouth treatment and it works. It seems to be of good quality, although a bit pricey. I have been using it for several years with great results. So it is worth the price.

My mouth and throat have been dry for a long time. I suck it up and drink water, which only helps for a few seconds. During the summer and especially with the use of covid masks while working in a hot kitchen for 8 hours, my mouth and throat get horribly dry. I spend the day swallowing dry and it is very uncomfortable. at night is especially another time when my mouth gets extremely dry and I wake up in the middle of the night to swallow water. I started consuming Aloe Vera Gel Powder every day religiously, thanks to that I can get through most of the day without any problems and I can finally sleep through the night without waking up and having my mouth and throat totally dry. It is unbelievable. I’m so glad I stopped dealing with it and found the solution.

I love these Capsaicin capsules. I have Sjogren’s syndrome which gives me severe dry mouth, so I have tried many products. Some sprays are ok, but they leave a sticky feeling in the mouth and taste terrible, unless you add peppermint. I take it 3 times a day xq it helps me especially at bedtime because it is the dry mouth that keeps me from falling asleep, very irritating, so thank you for this product. I buy them monthly!

I am very satisfied with this product. I have a very dry mouth, due to some of my medications. I started taking Ginseng for other reasons but I am surprised with the results in my mouth. Little by little my dry mouth problem is disappearing with a natural remedy that I could not even imagine.
